Naroko is run by David and Paul Cohen. David is an actuary. Paul is an engineer.
The story
We started Naroko because we kept seeing the same thing from two different angles: businesses paying for software that almost fit, and AI plans that never turned into working tools.
David saw it from the finance side. As an actuary he spent years inside businesses where the numbers lived in spreadsheets held together by one person and a lot of hope. Paul saw it from the delivery side, spending six years implementing systems and training teams for organisations across Africa and Europe. The pattern was the same everywhere: the tools did not fit the work, so people worked around the tools.
So we joined forces. We build software around the way a business actually works, and we make sure the people who use it can run it.
Meet the founders
A qualified actuary and Fellow of the Actuarial Society of South Africa. David has spent his career applying actuarial thinking to problems outside the profession: actuarial consulting at PwC, CFO of a fashion retailer, and co-founder of an insurance venture. At Naroko he leads strategy and client engagements. His instinct is to find the number that matters and build towards it.
Core Expertise
An industrial engineer with a computer science background, both from Wits. Paul spent six years implementing systems and training teams for organisations across Africa and Europe, from Nairobi to Amsterdam to Johannesburg. At Naroko he leads the engineering: if we built it, Paul's hands were on it.
